Please note the following topics: Visa regulations In general, non-EU citizens require a visa to enter Germany! The visa regulations depend on your nationality so it is essential that you contact the German embassy or consulate in your home country regarding up-to-date information. Citizens from UK, USA, Republic of Korea, Japan, Brazil: Enter Germany 90 days visa-free and apply for a residence permit during Orientation. → Please note: the residence permit is only granted for the duration of your semester abroad with us. If you plan to study for two semesters or if you plan to combine your stay with a period of travel, you need to apply for a visa in your home country. In case you want to enter Germany without visa and apply for a residence permit please mind to bring your financial security statement with you. We will arrange your contact to the local foreigners' registration office once you are here. → Please check for further information our visa fact sheet Health insurance Statutory health insurance is mandatory for enrolment at a German university. You need health insurance coverage for your entire stay in Germany covering all costs that may arise in the event of illness or injury. We need proof of such insurance coverage. Please submit an insurance certificate “Versicherungsbescheinigung zur Vorlage bei einer Hochschule” (Insurance certificate for submission to a university) to us. → Please check for further information and contacts our Health Insurance Info Sheet . Beside health insurance we strongly recommend personal liability insurance and travel insurance for your stay in Germany. Personal liability insurance will cost about 50 EUR for the entire year. General costs Here is an overview of the costs to be expected during your semester: Housing : approx. 300 – 450 EUR per month plus a refundable deposit Student Services Fee : 91 EUR / Semester (payable via wire transfer, you will get an invoice with bank details after arrival) Residence permit : approx. 50 EUR (citizens of USA and Republic of Korea without visa) Food : lunch at several restaurants in Bad Mergentheim with lunch tickets 2,70 EUR/ticket (approx. 6,50 – 11,50 EUR / meal ) Students in the International Program of Business will also have to pay excursion fees of approximately 250 EUR Study itself is tuition-free, supported by the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg, and the majority of travel/program costs are sponsored by DHBW. Housing We will arrange housing for all students who have chosen this option. The accommodations are always located in downtown Bad Mergentheim and within walking distance of the campus. You can usually move into the accommodation we arrange for you on the Saturday before the official start of the program. The official rental period is for the duration of your program at DHBW Bad Mergentheim. Some accommodations may also be available for longer periods. As soon as we have finalized your accommodation, we will send you further details. Each of you will receive information by e-mail including the address, the binding move-in date, a brief description of your room and information on your monthly rent. → Please note: In Germany, some landlords require proof of liability insurance from tenants. If this is required for your accommodation, we will inform you of this on the housing sheet. In this case, please send us proof of insurance. If you would like to find accommodation yourself, you are of course welcome to do so. WG-Gesucht.de Travel to Bad Mergentheim In order to reach Bad Mergentheim, we recommend to fly into Frankfurt . However, any other airport would work as well. The train ride from Frankfurt Airport to Bad Mergentheim takes about 3:00 / 3:30 hours. There are trains every hour. You will have to change trains at Wuerzburg Main Station and also at Lauda. The train ride (normal fare without any reduction) will cost approx. 45 EUR. If you would like to book a pick-up service from the airport, please contact us at least 3 weeks before your arrival in Frankfurt. The transfer costs 220 EUR to 240 EUR per car for up to 5-8 people (depending on the amount of luggage you have). Please provide us with your flight number and a mobile number so that the driver can contact you at the airport. Attendance Please note: According to §29 Abs. 5 Satz 3 of the State University Law, you are required to attend lectures regularly, as well as to participate in the required performance assessments and exams. In case you are sick and cannot attend lectures, you are required to inform the Head of Department CC International Office (contact details on our website ). Student bank account We recommend opening an online bank account with one of the following providers. Please find out in advance which bank suits you best and is available to you. A German address is usually required to open a bank account, so we recommend opening the account as soon as you arrive in Germany. The process is usually quick and the account is then ready for use shortly afterwards. You want to study a semester abroad as an exchange student? Then you have come to the right place! DHBW Mosbach has two campuses: one in the town of Mosbach and one in Bad Mergentheim. With their charming city centers with traditional German architecture, their location amidst hilly woods and castles and their many cultural events, both towns attract hundreds of visitors throughout the year. The DHBW Mosbach welcomes about 100 exchange students to its two campuses every year and we would be very happy to see you here as well. Freemover students If you are not enrolled at one of our partner universities worldwide , you can apply to come to DHBW Mosbach as a study abroad student (also called "freemover"). Please note that freemover students from outside the EU are subject to a tuition fee of 1,500 Euros per semester. Exchange students are exempt from the tuition fee. Freemover students can only be admitted to our International Programs after all applications from exchange students have been accepted. Accomodation We organize housing for all our exchange students, all you have to do is turn up, sign the lease contract and then pay the deposit and a monthly rent. You can, of course, also organize housing on your own. Please hand in the Housing Form together with the other application documents and indicate your preferences there. The Application Forms (which also includes the Housing Form and Learning Agreement) for all our programs can be found here . Costs Exchange students do not pay tuition fees at the DHBW Mosbach. Non-EU exchange students must have 992 € available for each month of study. Proof of financial security is required for visa applications. Costs during the semester include (subject to change at short notice): Housing: from approximately 250 € to 450 € per month plus refundable safety deposit of two to three months in most cases Student body fee (per semester): 13,00 EUR, in accordance with the contribution statutes of the constituted student body Student union fee (per semester): 78,00 EUR, in accordance with the student union contribution regulations Excursion fee (one-off fee): 200 - 250 € Public health insurance (per month – for non-EU citizens): approx. 110 € Visa fees (one-off fee): approx. 80 € Additional personal expenses (e.g. for food, public transport, household articles, travelling, etc.) according to your needs and additional program specific costs may arise. Buddy and Tutor System The International Programs are offered both for international exchange students as well as selected full-time DHBW Mosbach students. Before you arrive for your exchange semester at the DHBW Mosbach, we will match you with one of these German students. You can contact your buddy before and during your stay with any questions you might have. Additionally, the students in the International Program can sign up for specific tasks. For example, there will be a student, who will be in charge of letting you know what you have to do in order to open a bank account and one who will accompany you to the town hall for your registration in Germany. Another tutor will keep you up-to-date regarding the planned excursions. The classes in our International Programs are quite small, so you will get to know the other students very quickly. Das Semester wiederum gliedert sich in eine Theorie- und eine Praxisphase von 12 bzw. 14 Wochen. Die zeitliche Abfolge der Phasen wird im sogenannten Phasenplan festgelegt. Das erste Semester dient neben BWL-Grundlagen dem Ankommen in der Branche Bauwirtschaft und dem Facility Management im weitesten Sinne und dessen Kontext von dem Umfeld her auch über entsprechende Planspiele mit Blick auf die Wertschöpfungskette Bau und auch die verschiedenen Interessen, wie diejenigen eines Investors in Immobilien. Dazu kommt im ersten größeren Projekt ein Blick auf und in das Handwerk und dessen Dienstleistungserbringung mit der Aufgabe einer praktischen Betriebsberatung. Das zweite Semester hingegen führt die BWL fort und fokussiert daneben auf den Erhalt von technischen Grundlagen allgemein und zum Bauen sowie zur Nachhaltigkeit und Digitalisierung. Das dritte Semester führt die BWL-Inhalte fort, daneben gibt es Rechtsgrundlagen allgemein und zur Branche mit Ausschreibungen, Baurecht und Bauvertragsrecht sowie Supply Chain Management mit Grundlagen und zur Wertschöpfungskette sowie weiterführende technische Inhalte zum Bauen und Gebäudetechnik. Das vierte Semester fokussiert neben dem zweiten Projekt auf die Konzeption, Kalkulation und Planung eines komplettes Bauprojektes. Dazu kommen weitere betriebswirtschaftliche Branchenthemen zum Vertrieb und zur Immobilienmanagement. Darüber ist dann die betriebswirtschaftliche Basis für Immobilienmanagement gelegt, im Kontext einer Neuinvestition und der nachhaltigen späteren rechtskonformen Bewirtschaftung. Im fünften Semester folgt dann die Orientierung auf das Management und die Unternehmensführung mit u.a. das dritte große Projekt zum dauerhaften Management und ggf. auch der Umwidmung von Gebäuden mit Facility Management und Immobilienmanagement im Sinne Schaffung nachhaltiger Werte für die Besitzer und Nutzer. Dazu kommt weiterhin das Kennenlernen der Inhalte zum DGNB (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen) – Professionals und eine digitale Vertiefung zu BIM und KI. Das sechste Semester wird das Thema Unternehmensführung mit der Mitarbeiterführung und dem Controlling und der strategischen Unternehmenssteuerung sowie dem Integrationsseminar mit Unternehmensbewertung nach Business Excellence-Ansätzen und strategischen Fallstudien weiter vertieft. Dazu kommt ein Modul zum Prozessmanagement der Infrastruktur mit allen zugehörigen Dienstleistungen, also der operativen Abwicklung des Facility Managements als weiterer Besonderheit der Vertiefung. Abschlüsse Für diesen Studiengang der Fakultät Wirtschaft verleiht das Land Baden-Württemberg aufgrund erfolgreicher Abschlussprüfungen nach dreijährigem dualem Studium den Hochschulgrad Bachelor of Arts mit 210 ECTS Den Absolventen der Fokussierung Facility Management wird bestätigt, dass Sie die Inhalte der Weiterbildung zum zertifizierten Verwalter im Studienkontext erhalten haben und diese abgeprüft wurden, damit Sie ohne Weiteres danach auch als Immobilienverwalter tätig werden dürfen.
